From the beginning of time, man wanted power, they wanted to touch with there hands and have their every command obeyed. Electricity gave them this "power". Electricity has made the most impact on our lives. According to the Oxford Pocket Dictionary, electricity is defined as "a form of energy carried by certain particles of matter".
Electricity and its effects have been observed since ancient times, it was observed that amber had electrostatic properties. When rubbed together the amber attracted small bits of wood. These electromagnetic effects were first examined in the early 17th century, the word "electric" and "electricity" were invented from the Greek words "electron" and "amber". In 1747, Franklin began his electrical experiments. Benjamin Franklin demonstrated his theory with his famous kite experiments. After the kite experiment Franklin invented the lighting rod, and created a theory that, he called the "one-fluid" theory in explanation of the two kinds of electricity, positive and negative.
