For the discussion on Whistleblowing I want to provide three links because it I find all three interesting. The first link is http://whistleblowercentral.com/case-studies/ This is actually a law firm website that came up under the search whistleblower cases. It is interesting because it address the moral dilemma faced by whistleblowers and also provides a little more “street knowledge” about what actually happens to whistleblowers when they act and how to deal with the situation. It also shows how lawyers have made a new niche profession out of profiting from whistleblower cases. It provides a list of cases and their outcomes and uses terms of “relator” and the “qui tam.” These are legal terms I could not understand so I looked them up too which lead to other sites. So, Relator is the name given to the person by law who is the whistleblower. Qui Tam is the legal standing for the relator to file suit and get part of the settlement. This is explained here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qui_tam#cite_note-26 It is also interesting that a whistleblower can file suit on their own without government help and get a judgment for damages. Lastly, here is the case cite for a whistleblower I chose to analyze. I chose this one because I remembered it on T.V. and it made me sick. The Relator in this case was Delma Palares an employee and sales manager of the firm American Grocers, Ltd. (yes American Grocers!)
