Why the Death Penalty Should Be Re-Introduced Into Australia

Australian society is becoming increasingly dangerous because of the leniency of our present system of justice. The death penalty must be re-introduced into Australia; it’s the only thing that will keep killers and rapists off our streets, and away from our families. Just imagine one of these crazed maniacs mutilating your loved one. Do you think they should be punished by a short stint in a comfortable jail?
Jails are not an effective deterrent, they are much too comfortable. At places like Barwon Prison inmates are given too many luxuries, they get to wear casual clothes, they sleep in warm cozy beds and walk on soft carpet some even get to watch T.V. These criminals have a better life in jail than they would have had on the street. Some jails nowadays have even installed locks on the insides of the cells so at night they can lock themselves in if they are scared. What is the world coming to?
One officer from the Port Phillip Penitentiary said ‘its more like a holiday camp here, there has been such a relaxant in rules that inmates have forgotten their place! It’s a disgrace!
Jail sentences are too lenient. Life sentence isn’t for “life” the maximum is never more than twenty-five years.
In 2004 a great grandmother was bashed, strangled and sexually assaulted by two teens in her Seaford home. These callous killers were recently released from jail after only two and a half years, this is outrageous and unacceptable.
Is it right to let these killers off the hook so easily because of their youth? They were fifteen and sixteen and they knew exactly what they were doing!
