Why I Love Lucy

Many people would choose one of their grandmothers or their father as having the greatest influence in their lives, but I chose Lucille Ball. You may think it is strange as I have never met nor was I even born in her lifetime, but considering this, she still has the biggest influence on my life.
It all started one night when I was 10 years old, flipping through the channels on my new Time Warner Cable box, I came across a black and white television show. Most people would keep on flipping, but something had caught my eye. Was it the funny movement Lucy probably made at that moment or was it her adoring laugh? Whatever it was, it had me hooked on “I Love Lucy” everlastingly. She and her husband Desi Arnaz, along with the Mertzes (Vivian Vance and William Frawley) have made television history and they have had a huge impact on people to this day since the show opened in 1951, including mine.
In all that she’s done, Lucille Ball has inspired me to become an actor. She has taught me through her work that laughter is truly the best medicine. Throughout my hardships in life, Lucille has always made me laugh no matter what. Turing to her in my time of need makes me realize how great life is that even someone who has died can help a person almost a decade later get through life. On one occasion I could recall when a family member if mine that was dear to my heart passed away, I could remember not being able to smile for days. But as soon as Lucy came on the screen, you could see my face light up. It’s impossible not to laugh without a care when watching Lucy.
Many people look up to movie stars, but for all the wrong reasons. I have never met a person who looked up to a movie star for something other than the person’s looks or weight, but someone who has been through tough times and had a hard life before making it big shows me the possibilities. I think no matter what changes for me in life on thing will always stay true, and that is my love for Lucille...
