Network Plan for Apex Designs
Planning for the installation of a new Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) requires careful consideration of the end users’ needs, the layout of the facility, and even the construction of the facility. Through a thorough examination of all of these elements, the consulting team has been able to make informed decisions for the new WLAN for Apex Designs. The basic wireless security policy includes the deployment scenario, the network type, and basic wireless security information.
WLAN Deployment scenario
In deployment of the proposed WLAN, design for Apex Designs a combination of two deployment types is needed for an effective installation. First in an Infrastructure, deployment is considered. Apex has a LAN system installed that is comprised of two 48-port Gig switches and installed CAT6 cabling. It is intended to strategically place 5 access points throughout the office space and cable them to one of the two Gig switches. The access points are to be placed so that there are overlaps in their field of reception. The original LAN system will be connected to the other Gig switch to maintain the integrity of the company’s network back bone.
The second deployment scenario deals with a wireless gateway. As mention one switch will be used for the LAN back bone and the other will connect the access points to the current infrastructure. This switch will act as a gateway for the access points to connect the wireless components to Apex Design’s LAN. These combined scenarios allow for efficiency and redundancy which are both needed for proper network deployment.
IEEE Wireless Network Type
Designing a wireless network takes careful examination of the surroundings in order to be successful. Deciding the wireless technology to be used in the network is dependent upon the many different variables of the business. First, the structure needs to be looked at. What is the size of the building or office? What are the walls made from? Are the walls...
