Why Are Men Sports Given More Attention Than Women
Before sports originated in America, it was the Ancient Greeks entertainment in which we would have thought of as very brutl unlike today. These games were considered to be festivas and important to them, and also considered to be a majority man’s sport. Women participated in these games but very seldom would do an open race to start the festival. Even now, it seems everything is considered to be a man’s sports because of all the attention men receive over women. People, including myself, still wonder why is it that away.
If recognized, when going to any high school, college, university, or any professional organization, the main attraction is always the football game or men’ basketball game. Schools would advertise for the teams and many people would know about it. He fans get excited and tends to get very anxious just to see these men sports. For professional sports, ESPN or CBS advertise and give a lot of air time for male athletes for sports such as football, basketball, baseball, and hockey.
When these sports come to subject, women are considered to not be as talented as men. “Female athletes are not as physically strong as their male counterparts and are thus not able to run as fast, jump as high, or hit or throw balls as far as men” (Marvin). In basketball, people feel that males perform way better because they do mor tricks and have better skilled abilities to make the game very exciting. According to Tranell, “I feel that men basketball is more exciting because men are just better than girls. They are a lot bigger and majority are much taller than the women teams. Girls cannot really dunkand they do not sem as orga
nized as the men. The men do all types of dunks that makes the crowd go wild. They make a whole lot of trick plays and crzy passes that makes people want to learn...
