Dear Ms. Payne:
When the Bermuda community responded to local efforts to introduce two weeks of merriment by launching Bermuda Jazz, the island’s many music lovers helped to realize the successes we now celebrate. Bermuda Jazz organizes its musical festivities into a single week to highlight the love of jazz both in Bermuda and throughout the Caribbean. Since its introduction, the programs offered during the jazz festival have benefited individuals and families throughout the island and beyond.
Bermuda Jazz is a nonprofit organization and depends on its contributors to continue to fulfill its mission. Ticket sales cover only a portion of our operating expenses. We count on donations of time and money to continue to provide the high quality and wide range of performances we present each spring.
This year we are grateful to be able to celebrate many notable undertakings. Thousands of islanders and visitors participated in a festival that included a blockbuster lineup of national and local artists and dozens of student musicians. In fact, Bermuda Jazz dedicated an entire stage to emerging musicians, and school groups from around the island attended special performances to celebrate these exciting newcomers.
In addition, considerable capital improvements helped make the festival venue more accessible and flexible. As a result, the Arts Board selected the jazz festival as the featured event of last spring, showcasing the six weekend sessions and more than 90 sets performed last spring.
Please help us continue to bring the magic of the musical arts to Bermuda. Every contribution – large or small – supports our programs. At this time we ask you to be as generous as you can.
Sincerely,
Jan Van Doren
Development Director
