ANGELS ON EARTH
In moments of despair and loneliness, at the verge of losing belief in humanity you can see the invisible hand of God taking care of you although you may never knew how or where it comes from. For me, it was in the form a customs officer who came out of emptiness just like an angel or I was guided to him.
It’s heartbreaking to leave family and friends apart not even knowing when you will see them again. It’s like starting a new chapter of life, everything is new and unknown, nothing exists as a foundation. I felt uncertainty in every breath and it was choking me every second. The thought of leaving my home and moving to Canada brought along heaviness in my heart, and this feeling was growing as days counted down. On the other side, I was a little excited to see the charm of Toronto, one of the biggest cities of the world and to fill the chilliness of Canadian winter, which was usually portrayed so beautifully across various media.
I was the first one in the family to travel to Canada, I had no idea where to start and what to do and even not well informed of Canadian laws and rules. I did not take the pain to check over internet about the dos and don’ts. As I am a vivid watcher of Hollywood movies, they made me think that the life in Canada is going to be smoother and simple. I thought everything is going to be fine once I reached Canada, I thought I would find someone in course of my journey, which could help me find a place to stay, as a lot of Indian students are flying to Canada in September. However, I could not find a place to stay in Canada as those I contacted were pretty expensive, also I could not afford a luxurious stay at the expensive hotels near the airport.
