Writing


Writing gives me a rush of many feelings at once: confusion, happiness, confidence, pride, and satisfaction. All these emotions associated with my writing make it what it is. When I write I get so absorbed and attached to what I’m doing that I even experience goose bumps. I feel like I’m on top of the world when I write almost as if I’m on top of Mt. Everest looking down at everyone. It’s one of the best feelings to experience in life.
It all started when I learned how to read in first grade. I was the kid who instead of playing outside or watching tv, was wrapped in a book reading whenever possible. Particularly book series were my thing such as “Junie B. Jones” or “Judy Moody”. The minute a book caught my interest I would spend any moment of free time reading. I wanted to write just like the authors of the books I read. Reading all the time strengthened my writing skills a lot. All the credit can’t go to reading though, I’ve had dedicated English teachers who really took the time to teach me how to write to the fullest. I wanted my writing to be exciting and interesting versus mediocre or boring.
Having a finished piece of writing gives me a strong sense of accomplishment. Even when a prompt I’m given is challenging, it’s good to know I completed it. Before I’m even finished with writing, I edit it like crazy until it’s to my complete liking. I have no problem spending hours upon hours to make my writing as perfect as possible. Even in other life situations I’m the same exact way. When I clean for example I clean until everything is spotless and it doesn’t matter how long it takes me. My rough drafts may be really messy and confusing but they make total sense to me. I usually run my rough drafts by my teacher or a peer to get their opinions about it.
