Xxxx Core Values

Out of XXXX core values I would agree with one hundred percent certainty that diversity and team work resonates with myself the most. All through my life I have been grateful enough to be surrounded by so many different people with so many backgrounds, languages, cultures, customs, religions, values and beliefs. I myself am a child of a refugee immigrant parent from Vietnam. I believe that George Mason University exemplifies to the world of how so many people from so many different background are able to work and succeed together, through the successful completion of a higher education. The world is constantly changing and diversity and team work plays an essential role into everyone’s future growth and success.

Early on, in my young life the English language was a very difficult task to grasp because I was also being raised in a Vietnamese custom home. At the time my mother forbid me from using the English language within her household because she understood that outside her household I would be expose to different cultures and customs. She knew as time passes by I would have eventually learned the English language and exposed to different cultures. As I mature and developed intellectually I understood her intentions. She wanted me to understand my own Vietnamese roots and heritage while I also assimilate into a new diverse environment.

. I want to be able to continue to pass down my own traditional Vietnamese culture for many generations to come with possible improvements on the way. I feel as though it has been a great transition because I am able to incorporate not only American customs but also several other diverse customs that I am expose to in the Northern Virginia area. As a young child, I was not exposed to any of the Thanksgiving and Christmas festivities and traditions because I came from a Buddhist background that does not recognize these customs.
