The local radio stations told commuters where around the city they could find free parking spots with the famous Monopoly Free Parking from the iconic game board. Still, the informing via radio was hardly needed – the bright billboards were so huge and eye-catching, that they could be easily seen even at a far distance.
McDonald’s launched the campaign in October, making another contribution to the vast portfolio of the game-themed promotional project of the fast-food chain. The Monopoly-tagged campaign has been running since 1987.”
McDonald’s has been around for nearly over 65 years; the once sit-in restaurant has developed with the times and culture changes of the world in the countries of the United States, Canada, Germany, United Kingdom, France, Portugal, the Netherlands, Australia, Singapore and Switzerland since 1987, spreading from one region to the next, creating a chain of popularity amongst the young and old generations. What started as a small restaurant in San Bernardino, California owned by two brothers, Richard and Maurice McDonald, developed popularity for its fast service and has evolved over the years into the mega-marketable establishment it is today.
The fact that the McDonald’s fast food restaurant has been around so long, over the years it has gained so much popularity from its consumers; McDonald’s has almost become sort of a fad to the young generation. McDonald’s is now considered something that is “well-known,” or rather, a place that can never be forgotten by people. Because of the fast-food chain’s acknowledgement of its own popularity, it has tried to gain even more popularity by using what has also been around for a good few years, “Monopoly,” by Hasbro, which has been around since the 1930’s.
