I lived with my grandparents during my childhood. The best memories I remember was when it was someone’s birthday. My grandma will bake everyone’s birthday cake. No one will have a chocolate birthday cake but my grandpa and I. Chocolate cake is not just cake. The process of making a cake is very easy. The flavor is unforgettable. Baking a cake is one of the best memories of my childhood.
There’s nothing like chocolate. I love smooth and pure dark chocolate. I can’t never follow a strict diet. My grandma used always a large shiny bowl to mix the butter and sugar first. I always did the best part, beating all the ingredients. Later, my grandma will add the eggs, one at a time. The mixture will begin to look creamy and soft. Once I accomplished to make a well creamed mixture she will add the flour, cocoa, baking soda, salt and baking powder. She will add some milk to the mixture to have a smoother mixture. It was very exciting and fun to do it. I always ended up with chocolate on my cloths like a paint artist.
As soon as my grandma put the cake in the oven the entire house smelled like a chocolate factory, the entire kitchen will warm up of such delightful smell. My stomach will crave a piece just by looking through the crystal oven door. I always stood next to the oven and watched how the top of the cake was getting fluffy and big. The cooking timer will seemed to not move fast enough. I walked away and watched my grandma make the frosting instead. And finally the oven will ring and the cake was ready. The cake smelled delicious, buttery and chocolate smell will fill up the entire house.

My grandma will let the cake set to cool off, and then she will put chocolate frosting last to give it a luscious look. I will always lick the frosting leftovers in the bowl. It was a treat for helping make the cake and I will be the first one to taste the heavenly taste of chocolate.
