A Murderous War
Abortion is a very controversial topic in today’s world and has been for years. The battle is fought passionately from both sides of the issue and each raise valid points. Although both sides of the issue value many minor points, they both base their argument on a few main points. The first group is labeled ‘pro-choice’ and they fight for the right to legalize abortion here in Canada as well as provide general support of the action. Their first main point is that the fetus is not a human but rather just a mass of tissue which therefore gives them confidence that they are not committing murder. Secondly, they are very compassionate towards pregnant victims of rape or incest and try to comfort them in knowing they can destroy the result of what happened to them. Thirdly, they feel the rest of the world is trying to impose their morals on them and therefore they stubbornly stand strong and feed off the power of knowing they are fighting for something. In contrast, ‘pro-life’ raises their voices towards eliminating abortion and at the very least making sure it is not legal in Canada. Based on scientific facts as well as the word from the Holy Bible, they believe that the unborn child is a human and deserves the chance to live and secondly, they understand that a problem such as pregnancy from rape or incest cannot be destroyed but rather must be dealt with and offer programs of support for the parent and the helpless child. The values of society are shifting however and science is continually proving the signs of life in the womb, which are becoming increasingly difficult to deny. Although in previous years the vote of the people may have been a stronger pro-choice movement, those people are becoming further informed about the issue and it is clear that pro-choice is not the right decision and rather in Canada, abortion should not be legal.
