A Raison in the Sun

Lena, Walter, and Beneatha Younger all lived under the same roof all there life's, but their dreams are all different. Mama has dreams for her family to rise from poverty and live in a better and bigger place and also for them to continue to grow together as a family. Mama's children Walter and Beneatha, also have their own dreams. Walter, set his dream on a liquor store. Beneatha, on the other hand, wants to become a doctor when she gets out of college. By mama and her children having different dreams and ways to attain those dreams there is a lot of conflict between them. Walter is upset when he heard his mother spent the insurance money on the house and thought it wasn't fair that Beneatha got some of it for her medical school while he got nothing for his liquor store business. Beneatha views the inheritance as a chance to live out her dream and go to medical school. When Water loses the money Beneatha gets very angry and starts to hate him. Walter took the money mama gave him and invested in his liquor store, but lost all of the money he is very sad and wished he had listened causing them to come together as a family to think of a solution.

Walter is upset when he heard his mother spent the insurance money on the house and thought it wasn't fair that Beneatha got some of it for her medical school while he got nothing for his liquor store business. He starts to become bitter closing all communication with his family. When Walter finds out that mama bought a house with the insurance money, he walks out of the apartment to go drinking while he and mama were talking. Walter shut out all communication because he knew there was almost no chance for him to get any money for what he wanted. Mama tried to talk to him but he did not want to be rejected again, he also was angry at what was happing to him, because he knew that Beneatha`s dream were coming true and his is not.
