I Love Reading, Reading Loves’s Me
I love reading. There’s no doubt about it, I am a book fanatic. My taste in books is similar to my taste in music, fast, loud and exciting. However as with music my mood determines what I read.

Late at night I enjoy reading Science Fiction and Mystery/Thriller books. I really don’t know why. Maybe it’s because they are scariest at night, or maybe, when I have extra energy at the end of the day an adrenaline rush helps me to burn it off. Whatever the reason these are my favorite kind of books.

I usually like to read Alternate History books the day before I read them, it makes life so much more interesting. If my Mom asks me to do I can say I did it in an alternate quantum thread and plead that I am confused. Am I confusing you? Forgive me, last week.

Reading historical fiction is very enjoyable but also somewhat exasperating at times. There are a multitude of books set in the medieval period and they all have one thing in common: they seem to romanticize the period all out of proportion which as it happens is what makes them so enthralling. When you really get right down to it I’m not sure that in a way they aren’t right. Sure there was a lot of physical work and hardship not to mention the political instability of the period, but taking that into consideration I might prefer that to the total mental chaos of today’s world. After all, you can’t want what you don’t know about.

As far as classics go I guess I am a heretic from the general intellectual establishment, as a general rule I can’t stand them. However there are a few that I enjoy, such as Silas Mariner and The Brothers Karamazov.

And now I begin a new year of study. International Literature. Hopefully next year O will be writing a paper about how I like to read my new favorite genre over breakfast when it’s raining. The best thing about reading is it’s an enjoyable and varied journey that never ends.
