In a dark hour she sits in reflection. The years have passed quickly. The moon, the stars are both glowing bright. A cool breeze passes through the night’s air. It’s peaceful and calm. It is amazing how time flies. Her memories pass like a time lapse video of the sky she now stares at. Everyone had always told her but she never really realized how much it was so. She was just like her father.
He had passed away six years ago almost to the day. It was sudden and unexpected. As she sits on her porch, rocking in time with the tick, tick, tick of the second hand on her watch. Her heart aches as if it just happened yesterday. She misses him so much. No one would ever know she felt such sorrow. She, like him, kept her emotions locked deep inside on view to no one.
He had such a way about him. His sense of humor was the best she had ever known. His laugh was genuine and contagious. He was a person who very much valued his privacy and space but always had time to help anyone who needed it. If she was feeling down he would always lift her up. She always envied his quick wit and sarcasm. There was never a dull moment with him around.
She has a difficult time wrapping her mind around how much her personality resembles his. Only in his absence does she continually see herself in him. She only hopes as she makes a wish on the stars, that she’s made him proud.


A selfless man with a laid back attitude and heart of gold had given her his name. Sure growing up with the name of a boy was difficult. She endured a great deal of teasing and often in the privacy of her room or just under her breath she would curse having that name. She would come to learn a thing or two from this man. She would now bet that he never even knew he was teaching her. But she was watching. And she learned to love the name that had been given her. S With all the wonderful traits she had received.
