“Explore the ways your own spoken language is adapted in different situations and how the attitudes of other people influence these adaptations”

In my transcript It will show a conversation with my friend and a conversation with my mum, I will compare the two and I will see how my language changes and adapts due to the situation I am in and who I am talking to. When I am talking to my friend I use more slang and I talk more informal, I use words such as “I swear ur messed” and “Wtf wrong with u”, these are some words I wouldn’t use while talking to my mum as she is older than me, I have to show respect and talk politely.

Although I am from a Pakistani family I choose to speak English as everyone in my household understands English and can talk back to me. This makes it easier for me to talk to them as I can’t speak fluent Punjabi. When talking to my mum I use Standard English without slang, this is because I need to show her respect and talk politely as she is older than me. When she gives me an order “clean your room”, I have to listen to her and not answer back as it would be seen as rude and disrespectful, and as she is older than me she has power over me. Also because my mum is a teacher whenever I do speak slang or say something which is grammatically incorrect she always corrects me and tells me what to say and how to say it properly, this therefore makes me conscious and more aware as to how I talk to my mum as she always corrects me.
