This is my essay on the importance of accountability . This essay is to stress out the importance of remembering to be accountable for. Proper accountability can range from the most important, such as my weapon all the way to being in a simple formation. Accountability is the obligation or willingness to accept responsibility or to account for ones actions. Now for the Army, it becomes an obligation more than willingness while you have to be willing to do it as well. Those that are unable to be accountable for can jeopardize the combat readiness of any unit.
Personnel accountability is the obligation of the NCO's or any other person that is in charge or responsible for personnel in their team, squad, platoon, company or battalion. Personal accountability is the sole responsibility of yourself. Which implies with you showing up to work on time ready to start at morning formations. If unable to be on time for any reason you should contact the NCO or other person that is able to notify the next higher rank, why you will be late or unable to show up. Morning formations are essential and important because the information of the days mission and your daily responsibilities is being put out.

NCO’s being the backbone of the army and as a good leader should always have accountability for their soldiers but it starts on the lowest level which is where I failed to notify him and jeopordized his mission. By not notifying and not replying or answering the many requests to contact me I failed to my NCO and my chain of command. Also NCO's are accountable for the proper training and tasks that the unit has set upon them and they release that at formations to each individual soldier.

A Soldier must always actively strive to reflect well upon the Army. To do this, they must hold themselves to a higher standard than the rest of society. From the outside looking in, It would be unreasonable for a citizen to place faith in a person who cannot even be accountable for...
