I am an ambitious and enthusiastic individual who has always enjoyed Math during
my time at school. This is because I enjoy problem solving tasks, and the challenge
they bring in attempting to solve them. My ability at Math has provided the
foundation for my interest in accounting as it is a core requirement. I have
considerable experience in using Microsoft Office programs which I believe are basic
tools that will aid in pursuing my career in accounting.
My interest in business and finance strengthened after I studied the Association of
Accounting Technician (AAT) qualification for a year. After studying AAT, I decided
to take a step further and study for the Chartered Institute of Management
Accountants, (CIMA) as it is a higher level qualification. I believe that studying a
degree in accounting and finance, or business will help me to progress with my career.
This is because the two subjects combine well with one another and on many
occasions, I have found that knowledge of one subject has helped to understand the
other.I have previous experience in an accounting environment where my position was as a
trainee accountant. This gave me the experience of working at an accountancy firm,
while showing me the skills and knowledge required for a future career. My duties
included basic administration such as filing client records, creating invoices on the
system and the inputting data of client’s records. As part of my continued interest in
the financial markets, I enjoy reading The Economist and the Financial Times when I
am able to, as it provides an insight into business organizations, their financial
transactions and the state of the economy.

Outside of my education I work part time at an in-store pharmacy. Working in this
environment has not only given me responsibility but has also given me the confidence to deal with customers in varying, often difficult situations. A key skill
