Advantages of a multicultural society and labor force
The diverse races in the U.S. society show aspects of each group’s culture to construct the group identity of the nation. The Natives, Africans, Mexicans, Muslims, Chinese, and Jewish are just a few of the thousands of ethnic groups in the world that were chosen to research upon. Having a culturally diverse nation helps to have a country that is united as a whole group, because everyone’s ideas, regardless of race, are implemented as a team for the good of the country. The diversity of ethnicities in the nation help people to understand that even though we are all brought up with different customs, attitudes, behaviors, appearance, politics, and religion that we all have an underlying similarity in principle; in which, we are all human and possess the ability to accept different ethnicities and be equal. However, sometimes being brought up one way can have a negative influence in how one is brought up.
Among the ethnic groups researched, all have been stereotyped in some fashion. The Natives are stereotyped as being “savages” with no basis of self-control. Africans are said to be lazy, naive, superstitious, ignorant, love to eat fried chicken, grits, and drink grape Kool-Aid. Mexicans are thought of as poor, dirty, illiterate, and lazy, eat only tacos, rice, and beans. Muslims and Arabs are thought of as convenience store owners, who are dirty, love to eat only vegetables, and are terrorist. Chinese are often stereotyped as being super smart, nerdy, love to eat rice, noodles, good at math, and science. Jewish people are always thought of as being stingy, rich, and live off of kosher foods. The stereotypes mentioned are not accurate.
