It seems that the world as a whole is searching for an energy sources that are cleaner, cheaper, and more efficient. This is particularly true in the United States where the government is seeking to free itself from their reliance on petroleum which is in plentiful in countries in the Middle East. However, their agenda is focused more on issues of power, money, and dominance rather than clean energy. According to British Petroleum and Royal Dutch Shell, two of the world's largest oil companies, by 2050 one-third of the world's energy will need to come from solar, wind, and other renewable resources. Climate change, population growth, and decreasing fossil fuels mean that renewable energy will need to play a bigger role in the future. Alternative energy is any other energy source that is not fossil fuels. These alternative energies are renewable energies that will not run out and have lower carbon emissions compared to conventional energies. Wind, Solar, Geothermal, and Hydropower energies are all cleaner and potentially more efficient alternative energy sources that will help mankind survive through climate change, rapid population growth and depletion of fossil fuels.
