American Folk and Modern Music
As we can see the roots of American music is its multi-ethnical origins. American music has been evolving through the time.
First, Folk music comes from the beginnings of the United States sets as a country. In addition, Folk music is being popular among American workers and immigrants who bring part of their culture with them. This is the reason why Folk music is played by instruments, such as banjo, mandolin, guitar and some others, that are easier to have access. Because of the instability of American culture, people adapt their songs according to the cultural changes that the United States is passing through. Some types of folk music are ballads, prison songs, spiritual songs and war songs. As a result of this popularity, many singers become famous. For example, Stephen Foster, Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan.
On the other hand, composers try to look for technological advances that should improve the quality of their rhythms, theme and style. So that, in the late 20s, new song become popular but this time devoted to manufacture and sales. From these times, new styles were born. Some styles as blues, jazz, rock and roll and pop become popular through young people who little by little improve their ability to express themselves. Some of the common examples during this time are Steve Wonder, Louis Armstrong, Jimmy Hendrix, David Bower and some others. It is important to add the presence of the instruments such as electric guitar, drum and bass, into the new recordings.
