The search for managerial excellence is not new. Yet in our fast-paced, high-tech world, the pursuit for outstanding managerial skill has reached nearly quest-like heights. There are countless publications and studies, all attempting to identify and measure the magical components of managerial excellence within the corporate arena. However, if you ask an exceptional manager what factors led to their success, they would probably credit talent and luck rather than a specific cause or set of circumstances. Key concepts and experiences is reduced to truisms, but they do not represent the set of guidelines and proofs necessary to lead successive generations to similar success.
Thus, management skills of exceptional managers have been difficult to transfer. Hence, we are presenting this reports that reveals the knowledge and common sense skills shared by managers of all fields.
The interview was conducted through face-face, telephone, and e-mail with interview questionnaire. The interview was conducted between different level of managers at two different organizations- City Bank and Dhaka Bank.
The time period for carrying out this research was 4 weeks. It was not enough to carry out extensive research to grasp the complete material on management development.
Our first interviewee is Akbar Khan. He is a bank manager of the renowned City Bank. His typical day would be meeting with many clients from different banks who come for trading from foreign countries. He spends few hours of the day returning phone calls and answering faxes from foreign delegates. He even has to travel a lot in abroad to attend meetings. Between all of these, he also has to spend time with other bankers of our country to maintain contacts.
