Applied Analytical Research Paper
Purpose: The purpose of this applied project was to develop a sales seminar designed to lessen the learning curve of my new sales staff. I have chosen to teach sales techniques by relating them to the techniques of professional pickup artists (PUA). These techniques will hopefully provide receptive learning, by using intrinsic self relevance and cognitive terms already recognized by my staff
Justification: When teaching sales to a new sales team, there are important specific steps that must be learned and understood if the team desires to be successful. The complete understanding of consumer behavior and the psychology of the sale are essential parts of the learning process. I selected this applied project to help lessen the learning curve of my new sales staff because I believe that the sales process can be related to the initial male/female interaction process. The simple depiction of the similarities will help to relate the techniques into simple, easy to learn layman’s terms, resulting in a better understanding of consumer behavior and sales psychology.
To provide a more effective and efficient learning strategy, I have chosen to relate consumer behavior and the psychology of the sale to the techniques of few famous pickup artists (PUA). The secret underground society of the PUA has recently been brought into the light over the past few years. There are many so called “Players” in the PUA game. The game of the PUA artist is much like the world of sports, there are many who play but very few that rise to the levels of “Professional Status”. There are a few PUA that have risen to the top of the “Game”, namely Neil Strauss, Ross Jefferies and Mystery just to name a few.
