Citrus fruits are the first fruit crop in international trade in terms of value. Ecuador is the world’s biggest exporter of banana and passion fruit concentrate and can also enter into the international citrus fruit market with a new option called araza. We can have added value products with araza. I will focus on perfume done by this fruit. Exploitation of this fruit will improve the quality of life for people in rural areas and promote the development of the Ecuadorian economy. The main objective is to enter the European market, becoming the first Latin American country to reach the top in export and sales of perfumes of an exotic fruit like araza in countries like Germany and Switzerland.
Ecuador is a rich country in natural resources, but it does not have a high quality of life in its rural areas, and in the same way our country needs a plan in order to strengthen the economy taking advantage of exotic fruits which grow in its blessed land and araza is one of those fruits. For its nice aroma, it has good potential for the extraction of aromatic components which could be used in the perfume industry. Introducing this product in the international market will help to increase the Gross National Product (GNP) of our country improving its economy.


There are a lot of natural resources that need to be exploded to help strengthening the economy of Ecuador. Some of those resources are easily found in the soil because it has the perfect conditions to cultivate any kind of fruit or vegetable. Araza is a good option in order to increase the production activities in the agricultural sector. This exotic fruit is cultivated in a tropical and subtropical weather, and is well adapted to poor acid soils. We can find crops of it in Quevedo, Santo Domingo and all the Amazon jungle.
