In “N.Y. mom: I was wrong to leave my kids on the curb” (MSNBC, May 2009), The Associated Press states that Madlyn Primoff, a mother who was charged with child endangerment for leaving her two daughters on the curb, would likely have charges dropped in six months if she behaves. Primoff was three miles away from home when she made her arguing daughters, ages ten and twelve get out. She drove off intending to drive around the block and pick the girls up. When she returned, however, they were gone. The twelve year old was later found by the family walking home alone. Primoff called the police and was notified that her younger daughter was at the station waiting. The family arrived at the station and Primoff was arrested. Madlyn Primoff was considered not to be a threat to her children but was banned against any criminal activity toward the children (The Associated Press, 2009). Because Madlyn clearly made a mistake and was not found to be an unfit mother the case was adjourned for nine months and the judge has decided to dismiss the case and seal it if Primoff behaves.
