Assignment 1.1
Communication Process Model Misunderstanding #1 – New Hire On-boarding Package vs. The Hiring Manager.
Who was the sender? The sender of the misunderstanding was Human Resources Specialist. Who was the receiver? The receiver was the Hiring Manager. What was the message? The message was to provide manual information on how to create a new hire order on PeopleSoft, an in-house software for employees. The hiring manger is to create the new hire order for the HR specialist to generate an onboarding package to be send to the new employee, before the start date. What Channel was used to send the message? The message was sent via E-Mail. What was the misunderstanding that occurred? The E-mail sent to the hiring manager did not include details on how to submit the new hire order, which is a separate sheet that was not attached to the email. Therefore a confirmation message was not received, and the employee’s start date was postponed. Which created a delayed on the project.
The email contained a PDF manual to enter the primary new employee information, which then it generates a message to the HR specialist in order to send a package with all the forms for the new employee to fill out before the first day of work. The onboarding email contains the Offer letter, I9 form, Employee’s Manual, Direct Deposit form, among other acknowledgement forms. Once the on-barding package is generated and sent to the new employee, the HR specialist sends another message to the IT department to give all the necessary access to the new employee, including a new laptop, desk phone, and other office IT software access.
