1. CURRENT SITUATION

Currently, most of the households hang their laundries on bamboo poles. This traditional practice is both strenuous and time consuming. They have to retrieve the bamboo pole to hang their wet clothing. They then have to fit the heavy bamboo pole which is hung with wet clothes into the small bamboo hole usually mounted outside the window. This process is challenging to the elderly and anyone of smaller built as great effort is required to hang and retrieve the bamboo poles from the mounting holes. Occasionally, bamboo poles and clothes could be found on the ground landing. There are incidents of passer by being hit by a falling bamboo pole as well as victims falling off from their household along with the bamboo poles.

2. PROPOSED SOLUTION
2.1 What the solution is

The proposed solution is to implement a simple roller pulley system called “Stainless Pulley Pole” which is both safe and user friendly in replacement of the bamboo pole. This device is permanently mounted onto the service balcony and hence completely eliminated the demanding process of having to retrieve and hang out the poles. This is also less strenuous and will be very time effective in comparison to the traditional bamboo pole hanging method. This simple device is a circular hollow pole made of stainless steel measures 225cm in length and 3cm in diameter. The pole is equipped with changeable stainless steel hooks similar to that of a curtain. There are two pulleys (A & B), 175cm apart from one another which are located at each end of the pole and are encircled with wire cable. A plastic handle is connected to the pulley which is mounted to the stainless steel pole for easy access and also to control the rotating of the pulleys. A number of stainless steel hooks are secured onto the wire cable connected by bolts. At the end of the pole, there is a plastic stopper to prevent the hooks from dropping off the pole.
