There are a great number of composers that I could have chosen for this essay, but the one that stuck out to me the most is with out a doubt Ludwig van Beethoven a musical genius of his time. German born both his father and his grandfather were musicians and Ludwig was born into music. He played the piano and the violin. In Vienna Beethoven played for none other than the musical genius Mozart who predicted a good future for him in the field of music, which goes without saying his talent was far beyond anyone his age. Probably the most notable feature of Mr. Beethoven was the fact that he was deaf, how can a deaf man become a great musician? But nonetheless Ludwig over came his handicap and became one of histories most inspiring composers. It all began around 1798; Ludwig began to experience hearing issues more than likely began with ringing in the ears and all of the common symptoms of hearing loss. These problems got worse over the coming years, getting so bad that he actually considered suicide in 1802. What a feat to overcome when most would just throw in the towel Beethoven kept his commitment to music. Deafness became total before the end of Beethoven's composing career Beethoven is amazing because he could direct a whole symphony to perfection without hearing a note! (Kamien 189)
As a composer in the Classical period he connected the classical to the romantic period trying to innovate his music and while doing that Beethoven violated many of the compositional rules of his age, and made his violations work so well that the rules were rewritten to take into account what he did leading to a new era in music. Much of his music was highly influenced by great men such as Hayden and Mozart it was under their influence that Ludwig wrote the First and Second Symphonies.
