Scripture passage 1: Luke 6:31
“And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.” - Care and compassion
In this passage, Luke is telling us to treat others the way we would like to be treated, to do good to those that hate you. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Luke is telling us to love our enemies, even those who curse us.
Three ways we could apply this passage in our daily life are:
1. Simply lend a hand to anyone who is in need of help, and to do it out of your own good will, not to expect something in return.
2. Give to anyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back.
3. If someone slaps you on the cheek, also turn the other to him or her.
Scripture passage 2: Philippians 2:3-4
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” - Humility
Scripture passage 3: Proverbs 13:20
“Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.” – Responsibility
Scripture passage 4: Luke 1:77
“To give his people the knowledge of salvation
through the forgiveness of their sins,” - Forgiveness
Scripture passage 5: Genesis 25:21
“ Isaac prayed to the Lord on behalf of his wife, because she was childless. The lord answered his prayer, and his wife Rebekah became pregnant.” - Prayer
