Blackboard is an educational tool that has been used for several years. This is the first time that I have used blackboard, and have found it easy to use and navigate through. There are few things that I have not figured out about blackboard, this tutorial will hopefully solve any question a student may have about blackboard. Any Mount Royal student can access blackboard from their myMRU account, or by going right to the blackboard site www.courseware.mymru.ca. One of the components of the tutorial that I learned was how to hide or bring back courses. You do this by looking for the gear symbol near the “My Courses” title once you have logged in, click on the gear. Check or uncheck any courses that show up to personalize the courses that you can, or can not, see on your home screen. Another useful aspect of the tutorial is the section on posting to a discussion board, this is a very useful tool that I think is very important. You can only create a thread or post to a discussion board if there is an existing one already. In that case, once logged into Blackboard, click on the desired course, once there click on Discussion Board, the page that comes up should contain an existing forum, click on the forum that you want to create a thread in. Another page will come up that requires you to fill in the proper fields, once these are filled and you have attached, if desired, your file(s), simply click on submit and the thread will be posted so that others may comment and and reply to it. After looking at this tutorial for blackboard, there are definitely components to it that I have not found useful in the least. I have found that a lot of the information is completely subjective to the course and even the computer that blackboard is being used on. The information that is provided on the different browsers, how to open quizzes and unblock the pop up windows are pointless for anyone who uses a Mac, which operates on Safari....
