Why do good people do bad things?
Many people nowadays who are considered as good people do bad things. I think that this is due to a few points that I will address in this essay. One of which is that they do bad things because of the people around them. In this I mean that if someone has some friends around them and they want to be seen as cool then they might do something bad because of other around them. Another reason why I think good people do bad things is because of power being given to them in which they overuse and make the most of. This is easily shown in a few real life cases. A slightly smaller point which can be related to others is that good people do bad things because what others tell them which influences them in a negative way.
A good example of how people overuse their power that they haven’t deserved is the scandal at the Abu Ghraib Prison. This prison was for Iraqis who were captured between 2003-2006. A few US Soldiers, which were good people, were there at the prison just being guards until they became “bad apples” because of all the pain and torture they were putting the prisoners through. Soon photos were taken of people having prisoners on leads and many other different tortures. This scandal took many turns, one of which was sexual and prisoners were forced to simulate sodomy on each other. This was a planned two-week study which was abandoned after only six days due to the scale of torture in the prison. Many reasons for this happening was because of bystanders not intervening, over using responsibility and dehumanization. These guards were good people before this planned srudy but came out bad people because of there actions. Many of the US soldiers would blame it on other around them.
