Budgerigar
Description: Budgerigars are also known as Budgie and parakeet is the most popular pet bird in the world. Because of the beautiful color of its feather, health, cute, active, playful and inexpensive and easy to tame, therefore it is the best choice of novice. Although they are inexpensive, you still need to take good care of it. They are more silent than large parrot like cockatiels and lovebirds. Now I am going to tell you how to choose and take care of a budgie.

Buying budgie: Generally, there are three different colors of budgie. They are green, blue and yellow. An ideal budgie will have these conditions: well-handle, tame and hand-fed. Buy a budgie that is active, playful and bright-eyed.

Accommodation: Budgie is active and playful, so make sure you have bought a big enough cage. I recommend the minimum size of the cage would be about 18” x 18” x 12” inches. Budgies were originally from dry area of Australia, so better keep them at some dry place.

Diet: Many owners will only give seed-only diet to budgies, after the young birds are weaned. But it is certainly not good for them. You may add some fruit (except avocado because it will make budgies sick) and veggies bird seed. Then try to make the fruit and veggies into pellets. Remember to keep the diet varied.

General care: It is very sad that many people put their budgies into a very small cage and feed all-seed diet. After a few years later, you will need to replace another one. So you need to have a big cage and varied diet, therefore budgie will become tamer. If you...
