Employee Performance Issues and Motivation
When an employee has individual motivation to try and be the best employee at work, the office environment is great. However, when that employee is lacking motivation to not be the best employee based on what the issues are that hinder the employee will not only hurt them but also the organization. That is when the organization needs to take the time to figure out what intervention or action to take with that employee. For the purpose of this paper will cover my assignment to the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps, Detachment 643 and the motivational issues we had with a co-worker.
Co-Worker Motivational Issues
Pinder stated, “work motivation is commonly defined as an energizing force originating from both inside and outside the individual, driving employees toward intentional action” (Battistelli, Galletta, Portoghese, & Vandenberghe, 2013, p. 20). The motivation for my soon to be co-worker, Trisha was already in question prior to me joining her in Air Force Officer Training Corps, Detachment 643. Prior to my arrival at my next assignment to Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC), Detachment 643 in October 2008, had already met my soon to be co-worker a few months prior in August 2008 when Trisha came to visit my work center.
The work center at the time is where active duty Air Force members assigned to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base comes to process any item that affects their career or their family’s information. During Trisha’s visit, she was there to take care of a few things with her office due to an inspection happening within a few weeks in August 2008.
