The campus resource that I chose was the Illinois Student Leadership Center. I chose the Illinois Student Leadership Center because I had always been involved in leadership programs throughout high school and I would like to continue my involvement with leadership in college. The Illinois Student Leadership Center directed me towards majors and careers that involve leadership skills and the opportunity to be the leader of a group. It is important to me to not be a follower, I am interested in taking charge and having a large input on the work I do. The Illinois Student Leadership Center was very informative and beneficial. This resource center provides many programs that involve leadership skill building, which I believe is a very important life skill. It also provides a variety of other programs that will increase the understanding of yourself with identifying your strengths and weaknesses, which is something everyone should do. The Illinois Student Leadership Center made my signature theme “includer” become more apparent to me because I like to make sure everyone feels included. Being a part of the Leadership programs allows me to be a leader and include everyone around me. I like to make sure that everyone around me is benefited from the support of a group, which is very easily executed with participating in the leadership program. The Illinois Student Leadership Center also made my signature theme of “communication” more apparent to me because I enjoy being able to have others listen to my opinions, advice, and ideas. The leadership programs allow me to participate in discussions with groups of people. I would use the Illinois Student Leadership Center again because if offers many great programs to increase my knowledge, experience, and skills in leadership.
