Following closing night of the Merry Wives of Windsor, I started to think about what I really wanted to do with my future and if I wanted to stick with my path down criminal justice or try to pursue a career acting. I eventually decided that I’m going to go to advising and try to get my major changed to drama and alter my plan for my classes accordingly. With what I plan on doing now, I hope to one day attend UCLA focusing on acting.
For the next two years, I plan on getting all my all of my credits for my associate’s degree in drama and applying to UCLA. Once there, I plan on hopefully getting my bachelor’s as well as a teaching degree so that if I can’t get into show business, I can still be doing something in that career path.
Starting next semester, I will begin taking classes that pertain to my degree plan such as Acting I and College Algebra. For the most part, my degree plan I made in class won’t change much, just switching out the criminal justice centric classes with the required classes for drama. While most of the classes I’m taking now will still work with being a drama major, I will have to take another math class because MATH 1442 won’t work with a drama degree. Even with changing my major, I should still be able to graduate on time.
I’m going to talk to advising probably after class on Tuesday about changing my major, and then once I can register for my classes, begin registering for my classes for the Fall semester. Then when classes start back up in the fall, I plan on doing the same thing I did this semester, pass all my classes while participating in the campus plays and hanging out with all my cast mates. After graduating with my associate’s degree, I’m going to apply to the more well-known acting colleges in the states. While enrolled in one of those colleges, I’ll continue acting in performances and working on my degree. I’m also going to apply for every scholarship available to me, and if need be, find a part time job where my hours...
