Character Analysis Essay The first attribute that I think she carried is one of the most important and that is courage. There were many people young and old who were willing to do anything to prevent the children form going to Central High. Before and during going to Central High Melba had to endure a whole lot of threats. People constantly called her home and threaten to kill her. She also had two men they called Mutt and Jeff on a constant look out in front of her house. Her Grandma had to stand post with a gun in her living room to protect her family. The first time she tried to get in Central. A group of men chase her and her mother down the street and one of the men had a rope and wanted to hang her. Then when they finally got into the school the mob broke the barricades of the soldiers, and got into the school. The nine African American students had to escape from the school. Melba and the other eight students had to nave courage to stand up and fight for what’s right. If they didn’t have courage they wouldn’t have been able go through with the integration. The second attribute the Melba had to have is maturity. I mean you couldn’t have somebody who was childish to complete this task. Despite all of the physical, emotional, and verbal abuse Melba remained nonviolent. Which only a mature person could do. Anytime she was going through a tough time she would do anything that wouldn’t stir up trouble. Like for example, she would pray, use kindness, or report it to an authority, but she never fed into the students game. The most effective way that Melba fought back was through kindness. Like if they called her a name or hit her she would just smile and tell them thank you. Which shock the segregationist students and threw them off? The last attribute that Melba and the rest of the Little Rock nine had was Motivation and drive. The students of the Little Rock Nin had many things in common.
