BACKGROUND OF THE CASE
Mr. Jerry Yu was a business man running a small chain of gift stores in New York. He visited Liuyang City “The home of firecrackers and fireworks” during Chinese New Year upon his visit his relatives invited him to invest in the fireworks factory that was owned by a village. Mr. Yu was impressed by the extravagant fireworks shows he had seen during the festivals. He wanted to assess how attractive the Chinese fireworks industry and know more about it before he invest.

Liuyang City “the home of firecrackers and fireworks” was located at Hunan Province in China. The firecrackers and fireworks making has emerged/started during Tang dynasty and originated in Liuyang. Liuyang-made firecrackers and fireworks won numerous awards over its long history of firecrackers and fireworks making. The long history and tradition in China had made firecrackers and fireworks more than just a livelihood for Liuyang people.
