The American Revolution and Civil War were very similar wars. I think that the Civil War was a second American War for many different reasons. Both of these wars were big on unity and were fought for independence from which they felt as if one wasn't being treated right and wanted to fight for their rights. These wars both had big outcomes that helped make our country how it is today. I feel as if the Civil War was just the next step after the American Revolution in making the country come together as one. The things leading up to these wars were a lot similar in a way.
The American Revolution was the colonies fighting against Britain. I think that social rights were a big part on why that war was fought. Leading up to the American Revolution the people in the American colonies were having troubles with Britain. Britain dictated the colonist tax and price level on the imported goods. The colonists were only allowed to imports their goods through Britain. The colonist felt as if they were being robbed and sought independence and soon took action, which led to war.
The Civil War between the north and the south was little more of an economic thing, but I still see it as a second American Revolution. “The term "Second American Revolution" was first used by Charles and Mary Beard about seventy years ago when describing the American Civil War. Only after everything was settled about the reunion and reconciliation, after the construction of monuments were completed, after all the veterans were satisfied.” The south imported their goods from foreign countries but the federal government set high tariffs on the goods, which pretty much forced the southern states to buy the same goods from the northern states. The south wasn't industrialized like the north was so they had to rely a lot on their plantations, which increased their needs for slaves. The north was against the slavery going on in the south. The south felt as if the north was robbing them...
