Clay Slabs
The process of making clay slabs is quite simple if you know the technique that is required to make them efficiently, as well as to make the clay slab itself look as if it was made not by hand, but by a machine. This will be my adumbration on how to do it. First, you will need to acquire clay that is somewhat moist enough to be worked upon, but not so moist that it will not form into a shape that will not retain it’s desired shape you wish it to be, a clay slab. It will be your inchoate slab for now. Then, you will need to get a piece of wire or string, or anything that will cut through the clay that you have selected in a straight line. Figure out the depth of the slab that you wish to make before you use your piece of wire or string to cut it. Try to cut the clay into as straight of a line as possible, because it will make it easier to shape and keep looking great as we move through the process of making a good clay slab. You will need to take the clay slab that you have just cut and lay it out on a non-stick surface, such as a piece of woven and thick cloth. Take the clay and figure out the dimensions of the slab that you would like to create, and try to make them as symmetrical as you can as you move through this process of making a clay slab. When forming the clay slab, the method that I have found most appealing to myself would be to take a rolling pin, or something rounded such as a pencil, and go over and over the clay slab you are about to make, until you get to the desired thickness of your project to be completed with the clay slab. There is also another way to get the required thickness that you would like exactly. Place a flat object of the required thickness next to the clay slab that you are about to make, and roll the clay into the clay slab until the pencil or round object you are using touches both the clay slab and the object of the same thickness, and now your clay slab will be the exact thickness that you would like...
