When I first read “Social Media Will Change Your Business”, I didn’t expect for it to be solely about the cause and effects of Blogs. I had heard of Blogs and based on the information I got about them, thought that they were just a way to vent about things, good or bad, to whom ever you wished to read them. Not really serving any purpose other than that.
While reading this article, I was convinced that it itself was a Blog. The way that the writer addressed its public was so relaxed and almost informal, as if he were speaking to his buddies that if I hadn’t read the entire article I would have been none the wiser. The structure alone was that of a real blog, with the dates and times next to each entry. I believe that the writer was trying to give this illusion because he believes that any class of person, rich or poor, old or young, has had or should have had the chance to encounter a blog at some point while on the internet, and being so would rather read a blog then an actual article. For it being in a Blog style, the writer keeps the audience well informed and up to date on all that he wants you to know. I actually found the writer’s style of writing great, with its fun facts, questions to the readers, and personal comments. It kept me wanting to read more, gaining all his knowledge in the process, and then passing it along to others.
I believe that the writer was trying to do a combination of things in this article. Since I don’t read blogs, nor had I heard of their importance prior to this article, I was entertained as to their concept as well as informed as to the use of their presence. As I was reading, I felt as though I was being persuaded, if I hadn’t tried it already, to take a closer look at blogs and their cause and affects, not just within the business world, but within the world of everyday people as well.
