Company Motivational Profile Paper
In this paper and the slide presentation the team will examine the motivational profile of the Disney Corporation. In examining Disney Corporation the team will give a brief background of the corporation, the corporate culture and management, the motivational strategies, and analysis what make working for Disney Corporation a positive experience.
Background
Disney’s founder Walter Elias Disney arrived in California in 1923 with dreams and determination. Walt had made a little film about a little girl in a cartoon world, called Alice’s Wonderland and planned to use it as a pilot film to sell a series of Alice Comedies to a distributor (The Walt Disney Company, 2011). On October 1923 Walt contracted Alice Comedies to a New York distributor, M. J. Winkler, and this date became the beginning of the Walt Disney Company. The original name was known as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studios with Walt and his brother Sam as equal partners (The Walt Disney Company, 2011). Walt in 1927 moved to all-cartoon series with Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, he tried to obtain more money from M. J. Winkler and found Winkler had gone behind his back and signed all his animation in hope of making Oswald cartoons without Walt. This was a lesson Walt learned the hard way because Winkler owned the rights to Oswald.
Walt designed a new cartoon character that he first named Mortimer but Walt’s wife Lilly preferred Mickey (The Walt Disney Company, 2011). The first Mickey Mouse newspaper comic strip was published in 1930. In 1934 Walt and company started on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs that was finished in 1937.
