Compare and Contrast When I first read Genesis 1 and 2 in the New International Version of the Holy Bible I sat and pondered my ideas about life and how it was created. I have been raised in a Christian home my entire life and after going to private Christian schools, I was taught to believe this idea of creation. However after taking this class and reading about these ridiculous religions that I thought were completely untrue and impossible, I saw how they didn’t differ much from passage I had just read. It started to seem a little farfetched and I caught myself second guessing an idea that had been crammed into my mind consistently for the majority of my life. However I put these thoughts beside me and tried to finish my assignment by reading the King James Version of Genesis 1 and 2. This Version was told in a very blunt format just stating facts, honestly making the story a little bit more believable for me. In the New International Version the message was told in a story format making it sound like one of the ancient Indian myths I had heard growing up. I felt like after reading the King James Version the earlier pessimistic thoughts were not entirely gone but well on their way. It seemed more factual and believable considering it was no beating around the bush and just telling you, this is what happened and this is how it happened. Both of the Versions tell the same idea of how man and the world were created. They both state that a single god created all that is there and conquered this task in just seven days. He created a new thing each day except for the last day, Sunday where he rested and let there be peace. This day is now supposed to be the Sabbath, and is the day you are supposed to relax and give praise to the holy creator. They both also give guidelines on how to live your life in a more pure and holy way, which will then in return make you a more wise and happy person.
