To support social and emotional development and to provide positive guidance
My first functional area goal is self. Each morning I greet each child with a smile and a "Good Morning", followed by his/her name. I also encourage the other children to say good morning to the other children when they walk in the classroom. This makes the children feel special and welcome. I ensure that I am always available when the children are separate from their parents and when they fall and get hurt. Also I provide opportunities for the children to always feel successful and proud of themselves. Supporting social and emotional development is a way to provide a positive guidance and a positive relationship throughout the daily interactions with the other children. I help the children with developing the social skills and problem solving skills to be able to act independently. I encourage the children to learn to communicate with the other children. Having a positive attitude and good communication skills with the parents also helps the child’s socialization process. I encourage social and emotional development and provide positive relationships through the daily interactions.
My third functional area goal is guidance. I teach the children positive alternatives to socially unacceptable behavior. For instance they are not to scream or hit at, or call classmates an ugly name. If so that child is to sit with me...
