The value of the writing process.
The writing process is an accepted set of steps that all writers take to construct a complete piece of work. It entails organizing one's ideas logically through text. The focus of the writing process is on the process not on the end product. The writing process is essential for both starters and professional writers.
The writing process has a number of benefits. First, it allows the writer to work sequentially on their topic of interest since the writers are more passionate about something they are interested in. It also helps the students to develop positive relationships with their teachers. Secondly it supports communication and feedback from the readers. The learners also receive feedback not only on the structure but also on the ideas and the content of their writing. (Yocum, 1988). Thirdly it helps every writer regardless of the educational level. Finally the writing process helps students and amateur writers who are initially afraid of writing to start their own writing and voice their concerns in a about their work in a safe environment such as a classroom. It helps the students to see their success in the written work. (Davey, 1984).
The stages of the writing process may be condensed in a timed writing. This process also helps students and professional writers to write their essays and books using minimum time.
The writing process breaks the act of writing into several steps which are Prewriting. This stage expands and narrows ones focus and identifies their ideas. Organization of these ideas is of utmost importance in this stage. Benefits of the pre-writing process includes quick writing, concept mapping and helps in outlining the topic.
