“Mad Man Turns City to GOLD”
All of this madness started when King Midas, of Athens Greece, did a tremendous favor for Dionysus, the goddess of wine and vegetation. In return for the favor that Midas did for her, she granted him a single wish. She said he could wish for anything he wanted. So knowing Midas’s love for gold, he wished that everything he touched would turn to gold. King Midas woke up the next day with his wish; he started turning everything he saw into gold. Later that day after turning his whole palace to gold, he went inside to have lunch. He saw that there was a buffet set up for him. He sat down and reached for a slice of bread to start his feast; forgetting that he had the “Golden Touch”, the bread turned gold right before he could place it in his mouth. He looked at puzzled. He then demanded one of his servants to feed him a different piece of bread. The servant grabbed a piece of bread and walked over to Midas and placed the slice of bread into his mouth. Once the piece of bread touched his teeth it transformed to gold, this startled the servant, and he moved his hand, accidentally touching the mouth of Midas and instantly turning to gold. The rest of the people ran out of the room, just as Midas’s daughter walked in. She walked over to Midas and gave him a hug, ignorant to the fact that he contained the golden touch. He tried to warn her, but it was a second too late and she too turned to solid gold. He was ashamed to all of the conflicts that he has caused, that he went to go live in the forest. Now officials are looking for him. [pic]
