So your finally eighteen. You’re a legal adult. Suddenly you can smoke, vote, join the army, or even die for your country. But wait! Stop! Put down that beer! You are still not old enough to buy or consume alcoholic beverages. No, you will have to wait three more years for that, until your twenty-one. Well I for one believe that the legal drinking age should be lowered from 21 to eighteen. Who says that 21 is the magical age that makes one intelligent and mature enough to consume alcohol? I have seen many adults who act irresponsible and abuse alcohol. I also know many teenagers who would be able to drink responsibly. So if we are considered an adult and expected to act like one at age 18 it isn’t right to restrict us to a drinking age of 21. In this essay you will be told the reasons why it should be 18 and not 21. These reasons are if you are mature enough to vote the leader of your country why cant you crack a beer open. One of the key and supported topics is if you can fight for your country why cant you have a drink. My last point is over in Europe they do not view alcohol as a negative so it is not a problem whereas in America we do so it is a problem. As long as the drinking age stays 21 Americans will continue to have the same problems we have now. It just makes young adults want to consume these beverages even more.
