It was the Easter I had been looking forward to for months. The entire family was taking a trip to San Francisco the long weekend. It took 5 vehicles and a trailer. We all met up at my grandmother’s house at 7 o’clock Thursday morning where pit stops and specific roads were discussed. After about 10 minutes, everybody was informed and ready to go. We set off on the road. The roads were busy with other families going places for the holiday. The sky was beautiful and blue as ever, it just seemed like a perfect day for travelling. My cousins and I were excited and looking forward to all the activities we would be doing once we arrived at San Francisco. Sloane was looking forward to swimming and David couldn’t wait to see all the girls in their bathing suits. We stopped at the gas station. Everyone got out and stretched a bit for we had been sitting for over an hour. Before getting back in the car, my grandma walked over to me and kissed me on the forehead. It was strange but I said nothing. I reverted her back a kiss on the cheek and said “see you when we get there!” She was ecstatic because for months she was trying to get the entire family together and it finally happened. Everyone returned their vehicles and we were back on the road in 5 minutes. My mom turned around and said “buckle up.” We clicked our seat belts and continued with our conversation about our expectations for the weekend.
After about a half hour, my cousin asked an overused question, “are we there yet?” I replied, “Obviously not.” Then suddenly the vehicle slammed into my uncle’s vehicle in the front. My step dad turned around, “is everybody ok?” Mia was confused and asked “what just happened?” We got out to see what had occurred and to make sure my uncle and cousins were fine. We were getting out when I realized that my uncle had also hit my aunt’s vehicle in front of him. I looked beyond to see my grandparent’s car flipped over on the side of the road....
