For Differentiated Teach & Learn (MRF1040A) Universal Design for Learning Background In this essay, I have formulated and planned a unit of instruction, which reflects differentiated instruction for English I for high school students. The Universal design for learning (UDL) involves taking a traditional educational Novel Unit that I assigned to students, revealing a model that provides “access and objectives” for students, regardless of his or her learning styles and needs. As long as access involves supplying each student with a textbook or computer; the instructor plans for safeguards that students engage in the learning process and the subject matter is appropriately challenging regardless of cognitive abilities or current level of performance. Below I have added a chart explaining Universal Design for Learning. (Essential Qualities of Universal Design for Learning, 2010, p. 1). The lesson topic in this essay is “English I,” and the name within the content area is a tiered lesson plan that meets the needs of gifted high school students; writing prompt. The focuses mentioned in this essay relates to personal work experiences; identifying specific goals of instructions. The key concept follows the standard, "What Ideas to target?" The concept I will be following is an understanding of English I. The generalization follows, using concepts that I ask myself, "What knowledge gained will the students have at the end of a lesson, in spite of his or her placement in the tiers?"
