What does it mean to be well-educated?
Narrative Argument About Education
Liberty University ENGL 101-B20

Abstract
What should determine if someone is well-educated? Is it the one that holds various diploma’s, have a series of letters at the end of their name, or the one that is always seeking for more knowledge? Education should be more than just completing specific grade levels, but a lifelong pursuit in becoming thoroughly versed in knowledge, in general.

Narrative Argument About Education
What should determine if someone is well-educated? Is it the one that holds various diploma’s, have a series of letters at the end of their name, or the one that is always seeking for more knowledge? Education should be more than just completing specific grade levels, but a lifelong pursuit in becoming thoroughly versed in knowledge, in general.
What is Education?
Education, defined by many sources, seems to have several meanings and can be broken into various topics. Alfie Kohn, in his article “What does it mean to be well-educated?” opens stating: “…a good education is hard to define so rather than attempting to define it…, society should be asking about the purposes” (Kohn, 2003). By this statement, I believe that Kohn took hold to the definition that relays, “education is the act or process of impacting or acquiring general knowledge, developing the powers of reasoning and judgment, and generally of preparing oneself or others intellectually for mature life (education, 2014). Clearly by this definition we can see that Kohn’s plea, to understand the purpose of education, is a valid point. The preparation of oneself or others must began early in life. The purpose for education continues to change, throughout society, but each home addresses this early in their children’s life and it follows throughout even the parents life.
